OVER 240 PROJECTS COMPLETED

Since 1989, the Little Samaritan Mission has unfolded its humanitarian activity in the Republic of Moldova providing for the physical needs of orphan children in over 40 government orphanages/schools, the elderly dependent on LSM for food, clothing, and medicine, as well as impoverished families in dire need of basic necessities.

LSM seeks to provide relief to the most socially vulnerable individuals. To meet this need LSM is committed to provide nourishment through food programs, such as the Soup Kitchen. In emergency situations (flood, drought, winter storms) LSM responds by providing food and other supplies.

LSM works in developing areas according to its capabilities and resources to achieve humanitarian, educational, medical, and development goals for a better and healthier present and a more promising future for the children and individuals it is privileged to serve. LSM does not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, political affiliation, or gender but offers relief to all equally.

With high inflation and news of war at neighboring Ukraine, we bought flower in bulk and oil to distribute to poor families.

Bringing Comfort and Joy to a Family in Northern Moldova

As winter sets in across Europe, we distributed wood, coal, blankets, food items, clothing and shoes to a needy family with 5 children in Northern Moldova.

Never Alone at Christmastime

Eugenia is 83 years old and lives alone. She has no relatives and no one with whom to share the joy of the holiday season nor the long lonely hours of winter.

Bringing Joy to Daria and Her Family

Daria's father died many years ago and although her mother has significant health issues as she has difficulty with mobility in her arms and legs, she is a very loving and attentive mother to her 3 children.

Humanitarian help for Tatiana

A few years ago Little Samaritan Mission helped Tatiana, a single mother who was raising her 6 children in a house that was falling apart. Access to the main road and to the school was very difficult for her children.

Octomber 2019

Ludmila is a christian who received the Lord ever since she was living at the Badiceni orphanage. She got married to a man from the orphanage and had a son who is now 15 years old. Someone bought them a little house in Pervomaisc, but her husband left her a few years ago.

Humanitarian help for Eugenia

Since her husband died 7 years ago, Eugenia lives alone. She is blind and has dificulty hearing well. She lives in a small cold house.

Eufrosinia lives alone and walks with great difficulty using 2 canes.

Natalia from Chisinau, is 35 years old. She grew up in an orphanage.

Humanitarian help for Nina

Nina lives in the Malcoci village raising 2 children alone as her husband died may years ago.

Humanitarian Help for Elena

Elena is a 40 year old mother living in Chisinau with her 10 year old daughter.

Humanitarian Help for Aliona and Diana

Aliona and Diana from Cahul are two sisters in great need of wood to heat their home as well as blankets and food items. They live in poverty with their mother who is an alcoholic and rarely provides anything for the girls to eat.

Humanitarian Help for Anca

Miss Anca lives in Malcoci village and is 92 years old. She is alone in her small, damaged home that is staying put only by the grace of God. Since she feels weak and is elderly, she only stays in the house and doesn't go outside.

Humanitarian Help for Eudochia

Eudochia is 83 years old, she lives in Northern Moldova with her disabled grandson. He is 40 year old, bound to a wheelchair and has a speech impairment. Eudochia has been taking care of Ion ever since his mother passed away, 18 years ago. The church he goes to is right on their street, still, it is difficult for him to push the wheelchair on his own. Every Sunday he's at the church gates and warmly welcomes every one who is comes to church.

Dear brothers, sisters, and sponsors, winter comes with lower temperatures, freezing the hope for so many lonely and sorrowful souls, yet the Lord, who is the father of the orphans and the widow’s defender, has poured so much light and warmth into their hearts and their homes through your contributions, providing them with tremendous humanitarian assistance. By the grace of God, and your on-going support, the cold and poor homes of widows and socially vulnerable families.

Help for Tahvatulin family

The Tahvatulin family, which MS helped them (built their stove in the house), came with gratitude and gratitude for the blessing they received.

Help for Eugenia Family

Eugenia, 71 years old from Balti, Moldova, lives alone and for the past years, only devastating problems made her life even harder. With her only son who died a few years ago and another devastating disease that made her bedridden 3 years ago, this made her life more lonely and sad.

Help for Ana Family

Ana, 73, lives with her sick son with paralysis of a hand and a leg, Ana has completely lost sight 8 years ago. The Little Samaritan Mission visit brought warmth to their hearts through MS radio, warmth in the home through wood and charcoal and food to fully feel the joy of Christ.

Humanitarian Aid for 2019 Winter

As cold winter is here and abundant snow blocks the road, we are delivering wood and coal for heating, food parcels, blankets, portable radios for elderly and poor families from Northern Moldova.

Medical Equipment to La Ceiba, Honduras

Since 2008, the Little Samaritan Mission has expanded its humanitarian activity to Central America, more specifically, the country of Honduras. We have already worked in several schools and one hospital providing much needed humanitarian aid. The founder and president of LSM together with staff traveled to Honduras to assess the possibility of new projects and to deliver medical equipment to the Atlantida Hospital in the city of La Ceiba.

Potatoes Project

The mayor of the Haraghis village “For us the potatoes are as necessary as bread. If we have the basics, bread and potatoes, we know for sure that we will survive. The majority of seniors have dental problems and the potatoes are the most suitable food for them because they can be boiled and the texture of the potato allows for eating it with less difficulty.

Coal and Wood Project Winter 2010-2011

For the last 14 years, LSM has provided coal and wood for heating to orphanages (still using these systems for heating the facilities), impoverished families and elderly persons living in rural villages throughout Moldova. In the winter of 2010-2011 LSM continued the project providing tons of coal and wood.

Coal Distribution at Vascauti

Several weeks ago, the director from the government orphanage/boarding school of Vascauti, Mr. Tudor, contacted the LSM office in Chisinau. In an agitated and desperate tone he said they only have enough coal left for exactly two weeks but it was just in the middle of the winter season.

Nets for Fishermen in India

In the last 5 years, LSM has periodically developed and launched projects in India to meet the needs of impoverished villagers. These projects included solar lamps for huts, small stoves for meal preparation, seeds and farming tools for farmers, food and blankets for flood victims, restoration of a well for clean drinking water, school supplies, uniforms, and meals for school children, and more recently, fishing nets.

Mother’s Day SPECIAL PROJECT 2015

Mother’s Day is a special time to reflect on what a beautiful honor it is to be a mother and what a blessing is to have had a mother. For some mothers in the Republic of Moldova, each day that they look at their children is a reminder of just how fragile life is and how they would sacrifice anything, even their own life, to grant their child the gift of health.

Coal and Wood Distribution 2016

LSM continues to distribute the Coal and Wood Project during the winter months to impoverished families, seniors, and institutions. One by one, families, seniors, and children are kept warm as temperatures drop. Thank you to everyone who continues to make this project a reality for those who need it most.

The Joy of Wood and Coal: Ion and Iurii Family

Ion is the 77-year-old father of Iurii and became disabled many years ago, as a result of two surgical interventions. After the surgery he became paralyzed. His son, 54, is also disabled and has difficulty moving. They live in a tiny home, but it is clean and they take care of it to the best of their ability. Even though they are both in a difficult situation, they take care of each other.

Coal for a family of 7

Vera and Aurel have five children, the eldest one is 13 years old and the youngest is two. They live in a village in the northern part of Moldova and it is difficult for them to get by as there are no jobs in the village. Vera grew up in the Vascauti orphanage since both of her parents were deceased.

Mothers Day Project 2017

Mother's Day Project 2017. The Mother’s Day Project is distributed year-round to children in the only Oncology Hospital in Chisinau for Children. Each year in May, LSM prepares special bags for these children with much needed items and LSM staff distributes them to patients coming into the hospital throughout the year.

MATTRESS REPLACEMENT IN ORPHANAGES

One of the most acute needs in orphanages is mattress replacement. For many years, LSM has done this project all over Moldova. Mattresses are used nightly and due to the poor sanitary conditions in many of the orphanages/boarding schools they become unusable.

Solar Lamps Project – India

The solar lamp project for hut dwellers have light during the dark hours of the evening and night was a small but beneficial project. Having a source of light will help children to continue their homework into the evening and also considering that they live in huts where snakes and scorpions can easily enter undetected, it is also a safety measure to have at least one source of light which does not require kerosene or other sources of fuel to provide lighting.

CONSTRUCTION AND REMODELING PROJECTS IN ORPHANAGES AND SCHOOLS

Since 1991 when LSM first began working in Moldova with children in state institutions, it was evident that many of the facilities were in dire need of updating and modernization.

After School Program - Since 2008

LSM’s work in the Republic of Moldova in 1991 began with children in government orphanages. From basic needs of humanitarian relief, to building a foundation of solid moral principles of conduct, behavior, and faith, to scholarships for young teenagers to attend college or technical schools, LSM has always kept at its core a focus on education.

Food Project

LSM opened the first Soup Kitchen in the country of Moldova and its impact in the lives of those who were on LSM’s meal plan cannot be measured in a few words, however lives were changed, hope was restored, and from 1999-2008 the Soup Kitchen in Chisinau operated 9 months a year, 5 days a week nourishing the bodies and the souls of those attending.

WINTER 2015/2016: FOOD, COAL/WOOD PROJECT

Due to the severe drought during the summer of 2015, food prices have again risen and the cost of heating (wood/coal) as well. As in past years, LSM has provided for those in dire need of food and heating resources during the winter months, beginning with late October through April.

Humanitarian Aid for Zuza-Palamarciuc family

The Zuza-Palamarciuc family. Two parents with 5 children, living in the village do not have a permanent job, Dad has to work as a shepherd with a miserable salary, stay and freeze on the hill for months, the mother is doing home with the 5 very difficult children, is sick , has a boy older than 16 years old, barely have what puts them on the table in children, they do not have money for clothes and shoes.
