In the last 5 years, LSM has periodically developed and launched projects in India to meet the needs of impoverished villagers. These projects included solar lamps for huts, small stoves for meal preparation, seeds and farming tools for farmers, food and blankets for flood victims, restoration of a well for clean drinking water, school supplies, uniforms, and meals for school children, and more recently, fishing nets. In the village of New Nemeli, 42 fishing nets were distributed to families, including 5 widows, enabling them to catch fish not only to sustain their own families, but also to sell on the market to make a small income. For many of these families, having a fishing net is the difference between survival or despair. Through these small one time projects we are able to share the love of God with these impoverished and predominantly Hindu villagers. The impact these small projects have had in their lives is tremendous and although the main focus of our work continues to be in the Republic of Moldova, if a door opens for us to improve the lives of children and adults struggling to survive in India, we faithfully and efficiently serve where we can, sharing God’s love with all people.
